My journey with Adventist education began with first grade.  My parents were committed to the ideal that providing not only Christian education, but an intentional Seventh-day Adventist education was vital for their children.  Although I attended small schools with multi-grade classrooms, my education was not lacking as a result, plus I had the advantage of personal relationships with all the teachers and students throughout the school.

After graduating from Andrews Academy, I attended Andrews University before transferring to Penn State University where I received a Bachelor of Elementary Education, followed up with a Master's degree in Human Services and Counseling. I received various endorsements, and continue to take classes toward a PhD in Educational Administration.  Along the way I married Loren Taber, also a teacher, and raised our three children.

My experience in education includes teaching in a multi-grade elementary class, Kindergarten and Pre-school, teaching at the high school level and academy administration, and as an adjunct professor for psychology.  After 22 years of teaching, Christian education is still a passion.  The Bible clearly gives examples of how we should be educating our children, and it is my desire to be part of a community that holds to those principles.  The school, working with the home and the church, is not only an academic training ground, but a spiritual opportunity. There is no greater joy than seeing a child give his or her heart to the Lord.

As we continue in this journey together, let me share a favorite Bible text that is applicable to our lives today.  Isaiah 26:3 says,
"You will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you." WEB This perhaps one of the greatest gifts we can give our children in today's society.  God promises to give us His peace as we keep ourselves grounded in Him.
